Cairns Airport GM Aeronautical Development & Marketing, Janice Antonson, said she is pleased to welcome Airnorth as the new airline operating the Cairns – Gove route.

“Airnorth’s Embraer E170s are a great fit for this route going forward and we look forward to facilitating them and their passengers,” Ms Antonson said.

“As the Cairns - Gove flight continues on to Darwin, the Airnorth service will offer a spread of departure times throughout the day for travellers heading to the Northern Territory capital, a route which has shown a 20% increase over the past year.”

“Airnorth has been providing a high quality of air services across Northern Australia for over 35 years and are the second oldest operating airline in Australia (to Qantas). We are pleased to be extending our services into Cairns, opening up business and leisure travel options for local residents into the Northern Territory,” said Ms Simone Saunders, Airnorth’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Airnorth is a full service airline providing passengers with complimentary catering and a free baggage allowance. They fly over 200 weekly scheduled and charter services across three countries, with state-of-art regional jets operating across the majority of their network. Through their codeshare partnership with Qantas Airways, they offer passengers seamless connectivity including through check-in and interline baggage facilities.
