EADS beats the recruitment drum at Farnborough 2012

Bright and noisy Flashdrums draw attention to recruitment at airshow

Farnborough 12 July 2012 – Visitors to the Farnborough International Airshow were taken by surprise on Thursday when over 400 volunteers from EADS and its Divisions – Airbus, Astrium, Cassidian and Eurocopter - appeared out of nowhere to perform a “flashdrum” and highlight the aerospace and defence group’s career initiatives.

Wearing eye-catching bright fuschia T-shirts and banging drums, shaking tambourines or ringing bells, the participants drew the attention of those attending one of the world’s largest airshows. After getting in tune, the musicians marched towards the static display and gathered around the Airbus flagship A380 aircraft.

A recruitment-focused event is fast becoming a tradition for the EADS Group following a similar event organised by Airbus at Le Bourget in 2011.

Thierry Baril, Chief Human Resources Officer EADS & Airbus said: “We hope this musical interlude captures our spirit and will encourage students and experienced professionals to explore career opportunities within the four divisions of EADS. This performance demonstrates how employees’ engagement and their diversity can create a unique tune out of many talented individuals.”

This year EADS is planning to make 5,000 recruitments and welcome 4,000 interns. Airbus alone plans to hire 4000 people, the other divisions altogether a number of 1000. A series of forums and workshops at Farnborough Airshow are giving job seekers a wide range of opportunities to discuss their future career paths with HR professionals, engineers and business experts.

EADS is a truly global company that is committed to diversity with employees from 130 nations already on board. Therefore the company considered it important to organise a diversity day at Farnborough on Thursday, July 12.

EADS is also hosting dedicated Professional Days with tailor-made topics for experienced engineers. Special importance is being given to Radar, Stress, Systems Installation and Composite Engineers as well as experts in the fields of Industrial Processes, LEAN manufacturing and Supply Chain Mangement.
