Iberia moves to Terminal 5 at London-Heathrow Airport
The merger of Iberia and British Airways continues to deliver new advantages to the customers of both airlines. Starting on March 25, Iberia passengers from Madrid will arrive at Terminal 5 on Heathrow airport, which is British Airways' hub.
The move will substantially improve connections to the more than 100 destinations in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa that are served from London by British Airways. Iberia operates eight daily return Madrid-London flights, ensuring good connections with all British Airways flights at Terminal 5. The minimum connection time between Terminal 5 and Terminal 3, currently used by Iberia, is 90 minutes. After the move it will drop to 60 minutes.
Since the implementation of the merger and the Joint Business Agreement for the North Atlantic signed by Iberia, American Airlines, and British Airways, the Spanish and British airlines operate many flights under code sharing. The move to Terminal 5 will add efficiency to these arrangements.
Iberia customers will be able to enjoy Terminal 5’s world class facilities, including over 110 shops and restaurants. Iberia's business class passengers as well as Iberia Plus Gold and Platinum cardholders will also have access to the modern VIP lounges in Terminal 5.
While Iberia passengers may now use up to nine check-in counters at Heathrow's Terminal 3, at Terminal 5 they will be able to use any of the large number of check-in kiosks or bag drops. They can also buy tickets and receive assistance from the ticket offices and counters in Terminal 5. Business Class passengers can use special check-in counters and fast-track security control procedures.
Iberia is using all communications channels to inform customers and travel agents of the change, including information pillars in Terminal 3.
Heathrow's Terminal 5 opened in 2008, and contributed to major gains in both punctuality and speed of luggage delivery.
Iberia and British Airways flights have been located together at Madrid Barajas Airport Terminal 4 since the facility opened in 2006.
