The Jetstar Travel Card is a more secure, convenient and less expensive alternative to traveller’s cheques and currency exchange for travellers visiting one or more foreign countries.

The Jetstar Travel Card is another great value travel product that is available to Jetstar customers, in addition to the Global SIM, Jetstar MasterCard and Jetstar’s every day, accessible low fares.

Customers can apply for their Jetstar Travel Card via the Jetstar website, Jetstar.com/cards. Subsequent currency loads and card management can be done completely online; there is no need to visit a branch.

David Koczkar, Jetstar Chief Commercial Officer, said the introduction of the reloadable prepaid card gives travellers a value option and an alternative to traveller’s cheques and exchanging cash.

“In addition to the low fares and product choices the Jetstar brand is renowned for, the Jetstar Travel Card gives customers an easy option for managing their money while overseas.

“The new travel card offers users locked in exchange rates and no monthly account keeping fees, and it’s simple for people to top up their travel card account and convert currency online while travelling abroad” Mr Koczkar said.

Travellers who use the Jetstar Travel Card will avoid currency conversion fees on every transaction where the transaction currency is available on the card (see below); all to make the traveller’s experience more hassle-free, cost effective and enjoyable.

Nine currencies are available on the Jetstar Travel Card: Australian Dollar, US Dollar, Euro, Great British Pound, New Zealand Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Japanese Yen and Canadian Dollar. The Jetstar Travel Card can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted electronically at over 32 million locations worldwide.

Issued by Macquarie Bank, the card leverages Macquarie’s relationship with foreign currency provider OzForex. In addition to the new Jetstar Travel Card, Macquarie Bank has issued a Jetstar low-rate MasterCard and a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard.

Other features of the Jetstar Travel Card include:
