The company is thus able to better serve companies that are not yet recognized as Known Shippers.

“Freight consignments which are not handled by regulated entities (Known Shipper or Consignor) through a secure supply chain must be physically screened before being loaded onto aircraft. The methods which can be used are physical checks, x-ray, and
trace-detection”, explains Wolfgang Korte, CEO, LUG aircargo handling GmbH.

Lug aircargo handling, one of the most innovative, independent ground service companies, has operated at Frankfurt/Main Airport for more than 40 years and is also one of the leading ground handlers in Munich. The company offers a broad range of state-of-the-art cargo security services to air cargo agents, freight forwarders, and shippers at Germany’s second busiest air cargo hub. These include X-ray-screening with highly sophisticated Heimann equipment, hand searches, visual inspections, and searches with sniffing trace detectors. The inspections are carried out according to EU VO 185/2010. TSA requirements can be met as well as other or additional airline or shipper’s needs. “Our investment in security equipment at Munich airport underlines our longstanding commitment to cargo security”, says Wolfgang Korte. “The new service adds value to our product offering to airline customers, forwarders, and shippers. It is available round the clock. With our new service we make sure that our customers meet all government and airline regulatory requirements.”

“Regular training for screening staff according to EU and national requirements ensures that the LUG cargo security services are carried out to the highest standards. Cargo in the LUG cargo facilities is under 24/7 CCTV surveillance and protected against interference”, says Patrik Tschirch, Key Account Manager, LUG aircargo handling GmbH. “LUG aircargo handling has the know-how and leading edge technology to make significant improvements to supply chain security and product integrity. All shippers and agents can be reassured that their export cargoes are rigorously checked in accordance with international airfreight standards before export. This facilitates seamless transportation without delays.”
