The five-weekly Sydney-Bali (Denpasar) service will commence on 17 October. The new service will be operated on a 377 seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Indonesia AirAsia X to Sydney Airport, offering Bali-bound passengers greater choice and convenience,” Sydney Airport managing director and chief executive officer Kerrie Mather said.

“Bali remains a favourite destination for Sydneysiders, with around 276,000 passengers departing Sydney over the past 12 months.”

Ms Mather said Indonesia AirAsia X will also connect passengers travelling to and from Sydney to AirAsia’s expansive network through its Bali hub.

“The new Indonesia AirAsia X Sydney-Bali service will increase capacity on the route and provide travellers with significant connection opportunities from its domestic Indonesian network and major cities in Asia including Bangkok, Taipei, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur,” Ms Mather said.

“Indonesia AirAsia X also provides a welcome boost in low cost capacity servicing rapidly growing Asian markets, with considerable inbound potential for Sydney and Australia.”

Indonesia AirAsia X CEO Dendy Kurniawan visited Sydney to announce the launch today.

“We’re delighted to provide our guests more flight options on the Sydney-Bali route. Our vast connectivity coupled with our fly-thru services will enable our guests to explore Bali and beyond. Our launch sale is a great opportunity to arrange a tropical getaway,” Mr Kurniawan said.

Indonesia AirAsia X will be Sydney Airport’s fourth airline servicing the Sydney-Bali route. Sydney Airport is now the world’s leading low-cost long-haul airport, with five airlines now serving the market.
