EasyJet to create 250 jobs by 2012

A major new deal between the UK’s Manchester Airport and easyJet will result in the creation of hundreds of new aviation jobs, according to reports from the budget airline.

Two new aircraft are being added to its fleet flying out of Manchester Airport and the airline also plans to add further holiday routes in 2012.

The airline said that the expansion will create up to 250 new jobs by 2012 and that half of these will be with the airline directly. The remaining jobs are likely to be created in related industries, such as the manufacturing and supply chain sectors.

The airline also announced that it plans further expansion between 2012 and 2015, which should create even more jobs.

UK easyJet director, Paul Simmons spoke to the Manchester Evening News about the expansion, stating, “This expansion agreement builds on the relationship we have built with Manchester Airport since we launched here in 2008.

“This just shows the passengers in Manchester want the kind of routes we can offer them and we already operate 26 routes, including business destinations as well as popular leisure hotspots,” he added.
